Happy Halloween from Hoi An

A tall rain poncho and a Starbucks bag!

Halloween will go down as the holiday that wasn't.  I can hear the therapist in fifteen years, "So, tell me more about the Halloween in Vietnam...the one where your parents said, 'They don't celebrate Halloween here. Have a chocolate bar.'  I am quite sure we can trace all of your issues back to that one pivotal event."

Brianna sunk into a deep depression as the day wore on...photos of friends on Facebook in Halloween garb and reports of snow falling in Vermont.  As she moodily munched her chocolate bar around 9 p.m., she got to the heart of the matter.  "They don't celebrate Christmas here either.  Are we going to do nothing for that too?"  Ah...parenting guilt.  Evidently the December effort will need to be a bit more earnest.

Sadly, this is not a Halloween costume.  This dog wears a
different kimono every day.  This is NOT our dog.  Please
shoot me if I ever contemplate a daily silk wardrobe
 change for our canine companion.

  1. The Starbucks and Poncho Creatures definitely win the costume contest! You are the only trick or treaters we saw this evening, so many thanks.
