No, this is not our real residence; however the rice paddy proves to be a deterrent to mail service.  No path name.  No house number.  The 911 people would be having seizures (and, seriously, who would I call for a seizure anyway?).  If I picked up the phone and told someone we were having an emergency, we'd probably get water delivered to the house (or a new gas tank for the stove).  So, mail could be a challenge.

The hotel where we spent our first three weeks has graciously offered to hold mail for us and give us a call when something arrives.  This seems like the best option.  They are a business.  They have a street address with both a street name and a number.  They speak English. What more could we possibly want?

If you don't like that system, try sending something to the Awkwardly Tall Pale Family in the Awkwardly Tall Skinny House in the rice paddy in Hoi An. It might just make it here one day.  We would love mail, but please be warned.  It takes about three weeks to get to us.  All packages will be opened, and written material will be confiscated if it appears to be anti-government propaganda, so beware all of you propaganda promulgating friends!  The Vietnamese government has their eyes on you.

All of that having been said, we'd LOVE to hear from you in the old fashioned way - just don't send anything that will melt, mold or be interpreted as anti-communist:).  Happy Trails!

  1. From what I understand up to this post is that you are living in a hotel. Right or wrong?
