I'm Dreaming of a Damp Christmas

As the rain, rain, rain came down, down, down we decorated for a non-traditional Chrsitmas.  Our fresh Christmas tree has been replaced by an artificial tree from a box donated by our generous friends.  We have a mish mash of ornaments and a few strands of garland.  We're going to need to get creative with stockings.  I'm thinking we'll hang some of the snazzy flip-flop socks that women here wear - the socks with one toe hole.

It's not exactly Christmasy outside.  It's warm and humid.  The rainy season is just about over.  The rice fields have been plowed into mud.  If ever we needed a break from commercialism, this year will provide it.  There just isn't a lot of Christmas spirit to be had in south east Asia.  So we'll be doing our best to make our own!  The countdown is on...(now that feels Chirstmasy doesn't it?)
