First stop en route to Cambodia was Ho Chi Minh City. It felt like a homecoming of sorts – having left HCMC three months ago with no idea what we would find in Hoi An. We were looking forward to the buzz and the shopping opportunities. We spent our day seeking the commercial Christmas spirit which was readily available at most major hotels and shopping centers. We joined the throngs of Vietnamese people with cameras waiting patiently for the opportunity to photograph themselves with snowflakes and reindeer. It’s good to know that the Christmas spirit is alive and well even in locals where capitalism gets the cold shoulder.
