Remember those great airplane pillows from our long flight to Ho Chi Minh City back at the end of August? At the time I marveled at how versatile and useful they were. At the time I never could have guessed what their next use would be...
Yep...it's a dog bed for our new puppy! |
Somehow John and I managed to go out to dinner empty-handed and come home with a dog. How do these things happen? It was one of those no-brainers. We're in Vietnam. Our entire house has tile floors. We don't really have anything to ruin. A cleaner comes three times a week. The woman who gave us the puppy says she'll take her back when we go home next summer. We will need to find a dog sitter for when we travel. We will need to find a vet so Bob Barker will be happy (and we don't have to name her Titsie - like the kids have named one of the neighborhood dogs). We will be cooking rice soup for her for the next two months because she's only six weeks old. And, undoubtedly, we will be questioning our sanity numerous times in the next few weeks.
But, tonight, for the first time in two months, we saw our daughter smile a real smile...with her heart, and that makes it all worth it.
Stay tuned for the name game. Weigh in with your vote! So far under consideration we have: Hoi Anna, Neige, Coconut, and Chuối (pronounced like "Chewy" and means banana in Vietnamese).
As I write, she has just peed on the bedroom floor and Nolan has taken her out in the driving rain. Puppy Fun!
Did Brianna spike a couple of drinks?
